Leaders on our Board of Directors

The MetroWest YMCA gathered state and community leaders last week to celebrate the impact of the Y’s work in the community at its 8th Annual Marathon Community Breakfast.

Senator Elizabeth Warren, Senator Ed Markey, and Representative Jim McGovern sent video message of support to announce that the MetroWest YMCA received $5 million in federal funding for a new regional Early Learning Center in Ashland.

Dave McGillivray and Tim Kilduff hosted a remembrance of Rick Hoyt as Russ Hoyt and family members announced a $10k contribution to the MetroWest YMCA’s Annual Campaign. Rick MacPherson announced that the new regional YMCA in Ashland would be named after the Hoyts.

Inspiration Awards were given to the Team Hoyt duo Kyle Brodeur and Mike DiDonato, and Boston Bruins legend, Zdeno Charo. The MetroWest YMCA Inspiration Award is presented to special individuals who, through their amazing physical achievements, philanthropic work, and contributions to the running community, inspire thousands of people through their exceptional gifts of time and talent. Past recipients include Dick and Rick Hoyt, Becca Pizzi, Joe Andruzzi, Doug Flutie, Joan Benoit Samuelson, Jack Fultz, Tatyana McFadden, William Evans, Susan Hurley, and Rick Muhr.

Members of the MetroWest YMCA’s 2024 Boston Marathon team were on hand to meet supporters and share their stories for why they run. A special video highlighting a participant in the Y’s Parkinson’s Wellness Programs inspired the crowd to give in support of the Y’s vital work in the MetroWest community.
