METROWEST YMCA INVITES THE COMMUNITY TO A FREE SENIOR HEALTH AND WELLNESS FAIR

May 23, 2022

The MetroWest YMA will host a Senior Health and Wellness Fair at its Framingham Branch - 280 Old Connecticut Path, Framingham, MA, 01701 - on Wednesday, May 25, between 9:30 AM - 1:00 PM.

"This event is part of our ongoing initiatives to support the health and wellbeing of everyone in the MetroWest area," said Lauren Hanley, Senior Director of Health Integration.

Participants will tour the facility, watch fitness demonstrations, obtain free health screenings, and meet community vendors who provide resources! Activities will include a talk on Parkinson's Fitness, free blood pressure, and diabetes screenings, and a nutrition expert on hand to answer questions. Guests will also learn about the Y's summer cooking classes, drop-in pickleball, water aerobics, and opportunities to connect with others and remain active. Registration is not necessary. Lunch will be provided.

Community organizations that will be in attendance include:

  • Adventures in Lifelong Learning (FSU)
  • American Cancer Society
  • American Parkinsons Disease Association
  • Bay State Physical Therapy
  • Callahan Senior Center
  • Framingham Public Library
  • Jewish Family Services
  • Massachusettes Association for the Blind
  • Natick Senior Center
  • Seniors Helping Seniors
  • Walgreens
  • Whitney Place

This effort is made possible in part by a generous grant from the MetroWest Health Foundation. In 2021 the Y received a grant from the MetroWest Health Foundation to address the social isolation of older adults, exacerbated by the pandemic. Thanks to this funding, the Y has worked with other partners in the community to engage older adults to help reduce their social isolation while providing access to evidence-based programs that increase their quality of life.
