Falls Prevention Classes

Trainer helps woman develop greater balance

Enhanced Fitness is an evidence-based group exercise program for older adults that helps with fall prevention and symptoms of arthritis. The class features easy-to-learn movements and combines several key areas of fitness, including cardio, strength training, flexibility, and balance.

All classes are taught by a certified fitness instructor to ensure quality and safety. The class can be done seated or standing and the exercises are modified for individuals' needs and abilities. The goal of the program is to motivate participants to improve overall function and well-being. Participants appreciate the group atmosphere and social interaction as well.

Classes meet three times per week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
1:30 - 2:30 PM

16-week class is free for those with an active Y membership.

EnhanceFitness

A group exercises program developed specifically for older adults. The exercises focus on the four areas of fitness, endurance, flexibility, strength and balance.  The program was originally designed to help with arthritis but evidence has shown that the exercises reduce the risk of falls in older adults.

The program is offered free with a YMCA membership and has a fee for non-members with the option to apply for financial assistance.
