Meet the Team

Scott Umbel

Branch Executive Director

Scott has led the MetroWest YMCA's Family Outdoor Center since 2014 and is celebrating his 15th year full-time, 20th year part-time with YMCAs across the Northeast.  Scott oversees our program leadership team and their branch departments while taking direct supervision of all Family Swim Club operations.  He is a graduate of Penn State with a BS in Recreation Management.

Kelley Ratcliffe

Camp & Teen Director

Kelley has been part of our camp family since childhood.  She attended our camp as a camper, counselor, and leadership staff member for many summers.  Prior to taking on the role as Camp Director in 2016, Kelley was Unit Leader in Scamper and Camp Carol for 5 summers as well as a senior counselor in Scamper for two. Kelley has a passion for working with children; she is committed to providing every camper with an opportunity to grow, learn, and play in a community of fun and friendship.

Abby Biser

Adventure & Outdoor Education Director

Abby comes to the YMCA with a range of skills learned as a teacher and facilitator in schools, and camp and wilderness education programs. She is driven to work towards growth and empowerment for the members of the YMCA community and beyond.  Abby graduated from Cornell College with a BA in Elementary Education and carries endorsements in English, biology, and special education.  Abby leads our outdoor education, team building, and ropes groups and manages our adventure classes, family events and programs, birthdays and facility rentals.

Matt Donato

Business Manager & Registrar

Matt comes to us from the Guild of St. Agnes in Worcester working in both their administrative team and as a Schools Out Site Director.  Matt graduated with his BS in Communications from Salem State and is currently working on a Masters in Non-Profit Management from Worcester State.  He was a Corporal with the US Marines, worked at Ocean State Summer Pops Orchestra, and has run two marathons!  

Jen Curtis

High Flight Director & In-Training Corps Director

Jen is a life-long native of Massachusetts. In addition to High Flight, Jen also leads our summer in-Training Corps (LIT/CIT). Jen earned her Bachelor of Science from the University of New Hampshire in Recreation Management and Policy with a concentration in Therapeutic Recreation and is currently a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS). Jen has extensive experience in adaptive sports and therapeutic youth programming through Northeast Passage, an adaptive sports and therapeutic recreation community based program through the University of New Hampshire. 

Danielle Allen

Danielle is a Registered Dietitian who graduated from Framingham State University with a BS in Food and Nutrition. She first joined the YMCA during summer of 2017 as a camp counselor and has worked and interned in many roles since. Danielle was a dietetic intern at the Hockomock Area YMCA in North Attleborough as well as public school nutritional programs in Ashland.  She is passionate about providing nutrition education to the community in a fun and innovative way through programs and Schools Out.  

Jack Organ

High Flight Program Coordinator

Jack grew up exploring any and all outdoor areas near his home in Ohio with his family and friends. His life goal is to offer similar opportunities to as many people as possible. His bachelor’s degree is in Studio Art from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and his outdoor leadership life began as a counselor at a camp in Pennsylvania’s Laurel Highlands. After college, Jack spent 5 years as assistant director for an outdoor program in Romania’s Carpathian Alps leading hikes and backpacking trips, facilitating ropes course events, overseeing program staff, and, as always, exploring and delighting in the natural world. He is excited to continue his outdoor career at the YMCA by co-leading the High Flight program and leading other outdoor and adventure events.
