Run for the MetroWest YMCA

Boston Marathon April 17, 2023

The MetroWest YMCA serves Ashland, Framingham, Hopkinton, Holliston, Natick, Sudbury, and Wayland. We have a range of programs in the community that serve basic needs (food program) to programs that support healthy living, like chronic disease prevention.

We are a proud official charity of the Boston Athletic Association, and over the past seven years our running teams have helped raise funds that have an immediate impact back on the community

When you run for the Y, you run for a purpose and the funds raised support programs that help families and individuals in the community access food, prevent chronic disease, and support children's learning out-of-school, to just name a few.

Runners interested in a MetroWest YMCA invitational entry must be 18 years old or will be on April 17, 2023, be able to complete the course in 6 hours; and, confident that you can meet the $7,500 minimum fundraising goal for the Y programs. Also, entrants will need to comply with protocols and procedures related to COVID-19 mitigation and public health for the 2023 Boston Marahon, including, but not limited to, potential proof of negative testing, potential proof of vaccination, and wearing a face mask in designated areas. Runners are responsible for a $25 non-refundable application fee to apply to run for the Y, and then if selected $100 deposit, and the $375 registration fee for the marathon

Selected runners will receive training support and participate in weekly long runs with experienced coaches through the Marathon Coalition; support from prior year runners including insight on training and fundraising; nutrition support and much more.

Joining a team: Teammates come together regularly, learn more about each other and why they run and fundraise. Runners from previous years come back, share tips and tricks based on their experience.

Becoming a Member: If you are not already a member of our Y, you will receive a complimentary membership through the April 17th, 2023 Boston Marathon.  You can access classes, work on cross training, and learn more about the people and programs you are helping support through your running and fundraising.

Fundraising guidance: The MetroWest requires each of its runners to raise a minimum of $7,500, but many commit to raising more. Staff members regularly check in with runners regarding their fundraising progress. They offer advice, suggest opportunities for collaboration, and help everyone maximize their efforts.

Expert Coaching and group runs: Through regular check-ins and training runs, the Y’s runners physically and mentally prepare for Boston as a member of the Marathon Coalition. The Marathon Coalition is led by experienced coaching staff who organize weekly training runs. They provide strategies for tackling the rigors of a five month training cycle and the course on race day as well. Every Saturday there is a group long that not only build your endurance, but you build relationships and community.

If this sounds like a fit, we would love to talk to you.
