The Family Outdoor Center (FOC) in Hopkinton, MA, offers 122 acres of outdoor fun and adventure for the whole family!

SPRING I SESSION PROGRAM:
Beginner/Intermediate Archery
Our Beginner/Intermediate Archery program will teach you foundational archery skills: identifying the parts of the bow and arrow, how to hold equipment, stance, and other information. All equipment is provided!
Members: $90 | Youth & Teen: $95 | Non-Members $180

Saturdays: April 30 – June 11 from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM (no class 5/28 Memorial Day Weekend)
Advanced Archery
The Advanced Archery class provides an environment in which students will develop their form, practice range/competition commands, and learn how to care for essential gear such as stringing, waxing, & re-fletching. To participate you MUST have completed Basic Archery. Call the Family Outdoor Center at (508) 435-9345 if you have questions.

Adult Belay Class
Calling all parents, guardians, and siblings over age 18!! Register for a learn-to-belay class so that YOU may learn how to manage the ropes and take charge of your family’s life line! This class teaches people how to safely secure other people during rock climbing. Once a participant passes the course, you will have the ability to belay your family and approved guests during weekly Open Climb at the Family Outdoor Center.

NEW! Camping 101 Workshop
This is a family-friendly workshop that will teach the basics of camping, from finding the right site, to setting up the tent and tarp, fire and knife safety, and an introduction to outdoor cooking. All materials are provided. This will be a fun, informative event which can also help you get ready to join us for Community Camp Out Day (May 14)!

Photo-Orienteering: Introduction and Creation
Saturday April 9th from 12:00pm – 3:00pm

Have you tried our new Photo-O course? If not, come see what Photo-Orienteering is all about! Learn how to orient and navigate to a particular spot on the map, and then figure out which picture from the list was taken in that spot. You can also learn how to create your own Photo-O course using our map right here at the FOC, as part of our Community Course Creation series.
Saturday Morning Rock Climbing
Saturday, April 23rd from 12:00pm – 3:00pm
Members FREE: Non-members: $10/person or $25/family of 3+
Not able to attend our Friday night climbs? Come check out our indoor rock walls at a new time slot! YMCA staff will belay any who does not have a belay trained adult in their group.
Community Camp-Out and Lunar Carnival
Saturday, May 14th 4pm – Sunday, May 15th 10am
Members bringing own tent: $30/family | | Non-Members bringing own tent: $50/family
Members borrowing tent: $40/tent | Non-Members borrowing tent: $60/family
Come and camp out at the FOC with camp style field games and activities, plus some outdoor cooking and S’mores of course. Also enjoy some of our lunar-themed activities and learn all about the Lunar eclipse that will be occurring around 12:30am Monday morning. Tents available on a limited basis.
Spring Cook-out & Camp Open House!
Saturday, May 21st from 12pm – 4pm
Members: FREE| Non-Members: $10/family
Come hang out at the FOC! Grab some food and check out our rock walls, archery range, and field activities. Meet other community members and explore the trail systems. Can you find all the geocaches or complete the photo-o course?
Community Boating Day
Sunday, June 12th from 12pm – 4pm
Members: FREE| Non-Members: $25/family
Come learn how to canoe/kayak on the Ashland Reservoir! Spend the afternoon on the water and learn some paddling skills from our boating staff. All equipment provided.

Open Climb
Every Friday from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM in the Rec hall (except for 4/15)
Members: FREE! | Non-members: $10/person or $25/family of 3+
The indoor climbing gym is open to climbers of all ages, shapes, and sizes. Come and check out our climbing walls and be belayed by YMCA staff members. If you can be appropriately harnessed, you may climb. Anyone wishing to belay must have attended the Adult Belay Class.

Open Archery (ages 6 and up)
Every Monday from 5:30pm - 8:30pm in the Rec hall (closed for Memorial Day)
Members: FREE! | Non-members: $10/person or $25/family of 3+
Come and try out archery before signing up for classes, or practice on your own. All required equipment is provided by the YMCA. You may bring your own recurve or compound bows provided draw weight is 30lbs or less, and only arrows with field/target points are allowed.
