Some people make an impact through a single moment. Others make an impact by showing up—day after day, year after year—building relationships that shape lives for generations.

Last night, at the City of Framingham's Hispanic and Latino Heritage Month Honors, hosted by the Jesse Edwards Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Team, our community gathered to recognize 12 extraordinary individuals whose leadership and service have made Framingham stronger. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to every honoree for this well-deserved recognition.

For the MetroWest YMCA, the evening held special significance as we celebrated one of our own: Jesus Addarich.

Anyone who has worked alongside Jesus or participated in a YMCA program with him knows that his impact cannot be measured simply by years of service or the number of young people he has coached. His legacy is found in the relationships he has built—with children who became confident leaders, families who found encouragement during difficult seasons, colleagues who have learned from his example, and a community that knows it can count on him.

Jesus was surrounded by those relationships throughout the evening. His son, daughter-in-law, and first granddaughter proudly celebrated beside him, while his daughter, Gabriella, shared how proud she is of her father and how grateful she is for the guidance he has provided throughout her life and career. Friends, former participants, current families, and MetroWest YMCA colleagues—including President & CEO Rick MacPherson, COO Jeanne Sherlock, Chief Development Officer Peter Weisgerber, Executive Director of the Hopkinton Outdoor Center Bartt Pinchuck, and many others—filled the room to celebrate someone who has spent his career celebrating others.

During his acceptance remarks, Jesus reflected on the woman who first taught him the importance of identity, strength, and community—his late mother. He spoke with pride about his Puerto Rican heritage and the values she instilled in him, reminding everyone that our greatest influences often begin with family.

As meaningful as the award itself was, some of the evening's most powerful moments happened in conversations throughout the room.

One parent shared, "Jesus helped me raise all of my kids through Y programs."

Another simply said, "Without people like Jesus in my son's life, I would have been lost."

Those aren't just compliments. They're a testament to what happens when someone consistently invests in others, listens, encourages, and builds authentic relationships over time.

At the MetroWest YMCA, we believe that relationships have the power to change lives. They create belonging, inspire confidence, and strengthen communities. Jesus embodies those values every day, and this recognition is a reflection of the countless lives he has touched along the way.

Congratulations, Jesus, on this incredible and well-deserved honor. Thank you for the passion, kindness, and unwavering commitment you bring to our YMCA and to every young person and family who walks through our doors.

We are proud to celebrate you—not just for this achievement, but for the relationships that made it possible.

In the coming days, visitors to our Framingham Branch will have the opportunity to view the highlight board from the evening's honors in our lobby. We invite our YMCA community to stop by, celebrate with us, and recognize a leader whose legacy continues to grow through the people whose lives he has touched.
