April 9, 2026

Hopkinton, MA — Families across MetroWest are invited to kick off the spring season with a day of fun, connection, and healthy living at the MetroWest YMCA’s annual Healthy Kids Day® on Saturday, April 25, at the nonprofit’s Hopkinton Outdoor Center.

This free, family-friendly event is designed to inspire children and caregivers to build healthy habits together—through movement, outdoor exploration, and shared experiences. In a time when families are seeking meaningful ways to unplug and connect, Healthy Kids Day highlights the powerful role of time outdoors in supporting physical, emotional, and social well-being.

“Healthy Kids Day is about creating opportunities for families to come together, try something new, and experience the joy of being active outdoors,” said Bartt Pinchuck, Executive Director of the Hopkinton Outdoor Center. “We know that when families engage in healthy activities together, it builds lifelong habits and helps young people feel more connected and resilient.”

A Day Full of Energy, Learning, and Fun

The day begins with two exciting fun runs:

  • Family Trail Run (9:30 AM): A scenic 2-mile course for ages 6+
  • Kids’ Dash (10:00 & 10:15 AM): Short races for ages 2–10

Families will also have the opportunity to connect with representatives from the Hoyt Foundation and Team Hoyt, who will be on hand to help kick off the races and meet participants. Their presence highlights the power of inclusion and perseverance, inspiring children and caregivers alike.

From 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, families can enjoy a wide range of hands-on activities, including:

  • Live music and outdoor games
  • Gardening, art, and STEM challenges
  • Sports and camp tours
  • Rock climbing and archery
  • Interactive experiences with local community organizations

Additional highlights include a Teddy Bear Picnic hosted by Project ABC (10:00–12:00 AM) and lunch available for purchase beginning at 11:30 AM.

Building Healthy Habits for Life

Healthy Kids Day reflects the YMCA’s commitment to strengthening communities by supporting the whole family. The event promotes not only physical activity, but also nutritional awareness and emotional well-being—ensuring that all families have access to opportunities that help them thrive.

Hosted at the Hopkinton Outdoor Center—home to the MetroWest YMCA’s largest summer day camp—the event also offers families a chance to explore a trusted environment where children can grow, build confidence, and develop meaningful connections.

Families are encouraged to bring a donation of unopened, unexpired canned goods to support the YMCA’s work combating youth hunger and food insecurity throughout MetroWest.
